Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Well, if you have figured out a configuration, in which the CF card is seen by the bios - as yu aleady have - use that. And please test, if the drive is been recognized and usable by another OS. Timo just mentioned a way: Use a Linux live distribution, e.g. from an usb stick or a optical medim (cd/dvd). Just boot the live system and look if the internal drive / CF card has been found. You can that make some simple test out of the live system, e.g. with "hdparm" or something similar, you could also try to patition it (make a test partition) und even try to add a filesystem to the created partition. A simple hdparm reading would be that of the drive's information or read speed benchmarks: Code: sudo hdparm -i /dev/sda or Code: sudo hdparm -T /dev/sda "/dev/sda" should be replaced with the device of the CF card.

Nothing sees the CF card/drive except for the BIOS

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Well that seems quite strange ... because if it is seem in the BIOS, at least the linux kernel should show some messages ... about trying to identify what's been found on /dev/.... First the controllers shoudl show up (first 2 lines here), then something should be "found" Here the examples (working CF card). Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
After many combination of settings and the use of the BIOS reset CLRTC I managed to get the drive to act as the Master drive. The Windows setup still won't recognize the drive, but Acronis does now! Now I'll try to install windows on the original SSD, make a backup and put the backup on the CF.

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Well, seems you are making progess Actually, while testing with these adapters, I did change something in the BIOS settings (Eee 701) and both the internal SSD and the adapter (slave) disappeared - I had to reset via CLRTC to get them back. EDIT: As a sidenote .. while testing with two 701 with added Flashcon slot and same bios version with the same adapters and CF card / same Asus SSDs we (TbqTimo and tosty) got two different results. To this day we don't have a sufficient explanation for that ...

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
I changed the CF adapter once more for the SSD, but now it won't recognize the CF card anymore, not in Slave, not in Master

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Well, seems some Eee models (bioses?) seem to be pickier than others Just try CLRTC once more?

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Got it to work like before... By tightening the screws more... >.< Do you have a Windows driver for this adapter? Maybe the Windows setup will work with the driver.

Re: Adapter für CF-Karten im EEE PC
Well as it is a passive adapter (CF card is native[!!] PATA, so the PATA lines vom Flashcon are only extended and brought to the CF slot) there is no driver needed! Maybe indows Setup doen't it recognize for other reasons (detected is a removable medium, to "small" with 32 GB, ...?)
Will try to check, if problem exists here too.
